Dimity Kidston is a textile and ceramic artist that designs bright handcrafted Sgrafitto ceramic homewares, and hand woven tapestry pieces.
Dimity’s interest in creating beautiful functional objects was developed at the Australian National University and the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee Scotland where she studied textiles and ceramics.
Dimity is passionate about offering people form and function "why not surround yourself with beautiful objects that are durable, that can be utilised in your daily life; here, in the past and in many other cultures today, people furnish their homes with decorative yet functional objects, various homewares."
These decorative, yet utilitarian objects, are very tactile and handmade at every stage of their creation; no two pieces are exactly alike. Dimity's distinctive hand carved ceramics echo arboreal and eastern influences. Distressed surfaces, subtle handmade irregularities and variations in colour lend a feeling of being pre-loved.
