Lapis Lux Column Desk Lamp

The Lapis Lux collection lighting plays with light refraction and looks at the relationship between glass and stone. Sarah Colson played with fine art studio techniques to develop the forms and the basic colour pallet is the simplicity of the materials in their raw state.

The sculptural desk lamps have heavy tactile stone bases that contrast with the delicate glass forms. The soft shadows create a warm ambience, enhancing the beauty and simplicity of the materials.

The pendants play with a variety of arrangements where the single can become a multiple. The solutions offer a feminine elegance, which is distinctive in Colson’s design practice.

This piece is a sculptural desk lamp with a column of glass resting on a Portland stone base. The conturax glass has been softened with a straight band of sandblasting to create a soft lighting effect. The ribbing in the conturax defuses the light offering an ambient lighting solution.

Materials: Portland stone, borrow ciliate glass, chrome E14 lamp holder, silver flex cable.

Dimensions: Stone base 140mm x 70mm x 110mm, glass 75mm x mm
